Hello, welcome to the story of Duncan Digital Docs. My name is Rachel Duncan, and I am the owner and founder of this business.

I founded DDD in March 2024, but the seeds for its creation were planted in tragedy in the early 2020’s. 

My uncle Donald - like so many of our loved ones - lost his life to Covid-19 in his long term care home. He was a quiet man of few words, so our family thought - until we discovered that he had kept a daily journal… for over 20 years! 

Suddenly, we had DOZENS journals in our hands!

Such an archive about our loved one was a great find, but… where to keep it? Decades of journals are bulky to store, especially when intending to downsize… until I realized we could keep his legacy alive another way: digitally. 

Using available technology and my previous digital archiving background, I carefully duplicated and digitalized every page we had. Now, Uncle Donald’s memory is forever preserved digitally! 

My name is Rachel Duncan and I am the owner and founder of DDD. I began this business in early 2024 after using my experience from my wide variety of previous positions: nearly two years as a court reporter in Halton Region OCJ and SCJ, as a digital file clerk for a private Burlington Medical Practice and as an intern in a real estate law office. 

I graduated from the University of Guelph Humber in 2022 with a BASc in Justice Studies and a diploma in Community and Justice Services, before obtaining my court transcription certification from Centennial College in 2024. 

Creating DDD has allowed me to reconnect with my passion of preserving historical material - legal, medical and personal alike - while also allowing my customers to access their own history EASILY.  Ease of accessibility is often not standard in our society, but it’s never too late to start.
